2022-2023 ESSER III/School Innovation and Improvement Plan
Outcome goals for this academic year.

2022-2023 SIIP/ESSER at a glance.
Background: The Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER III) is a federal grant which requires that spending be used in specific areas. Part of the Fairfax County Public Schools spending plan identifies funding to be used for Unfinished Learning and Student Academic and Social, Emotional, Mental Health (Wellness) Needs. Schools have been given funding allocations to support the academic and wellness needs of students. Schools are required to create plans in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Wellness highlighting the strategies they will use to support these areas using their ESSER III funding. These strategies are shown below.
English Language Arts |
Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in English Language Arts. |
Goal: 50% of K students will meet or exceed the benchmark as measured by the spring PALS. 70% of students in grades 1-6 will score in the 40th percentile or above as measured by the spring iReady OR 75% of students in grades 3-6 will score in the pass proficient range or higher as measured by the spring SOL. |
Strategy 1: We will intentionally develop oral language in the core language arts block and throughout the day. |
Strategy 2: We will use evidence-based literacy practices explicitly and systematically in the whole group to teach the skills necessary for fluent word reading. |
Strategy 3: We will use evidence-based literacy practices explicitly and systematically in skills based small group instruction to teach the skills necessary for fluent word reading |
Mathematics |
Outcome: Ensure students are making sufficient progress to be on grade level in Mathematics. |
Goal: 70% of K students will meet or exceed benchmark as measured by the spring EMAS. 75% of students in grades 1-6 will score in the 40th percentile or above as measured by the spring iReady OR 70% of students in grades 3-6 will score in the pass proficient range or higher as measured by the spring SOL. |
Strategy 1: From teaching about representations to teaching through representations |
Strategy 2: We will plan for and implement differentiated, consistent small group instruction during the math workshop. |
Wellness |
Outcome: Ensure students feel safe, included, and supported in the school environment. |
Goal: For students in grades K-6, the SEL screener will show at least a 5% improvement between pre and post assessments in all domains (Skills and Competencies, Supports and Environment, and Wellbeing). Clearview will have at least 85% of all students in grades K-6 (including all subgroups) with less than 10% absences (tier 2) and 95% will have less than 20% absences (tier 3). |
Strategy 1: Clearview will refine the MTSS process so that all grade levels will consistently utilize MTSS to identify students requiring tier 2 and 3 wellness interventions. |
Strategy 2: Trauma informed SEL strategies will be implemented across all tiers. |
Strategy 3: The Attendance Intervention team will meet at least monthly to review attendance, identify interventions, and establish clear protocols. |
Portrait of a Graduate (POG) |
Outcome: All students will complete a POG Presentation of Learning (POL) by 2025-26. |
Goal: In the 2022-23 school year, 100% of students will set a goal to grow as a Communicator. Growth will be measured through POG self-reflections using a teacher rubric. In the 2022-23 school year, 100% of students will set a goal to grow as a Collaborator. Growth will be measured through POG self-reflections using a teacher rubric. |
Strategy 1: Collaborative teams will align content knowledge and skills with POG attributes and skills, specifically Communicator. |
Strategy 2: Collaborative teams will align content knowledge and skills with POG attributes and skills, specifically Collaborator. |
