Rachel Charlton

Assistant Principal, ES

Ms. Rachel Charlton was born and raised in Edison, New Jersey. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from James Madison University and a Master’s Degree in Education from George Mason University. Prior to beginning her teaching career, Rachel spent the summer in Costa Rica where she was fortunate to participate in a language and cultural immersion program. (She repeated this experience two years later.) It brings Rachel great joy supporting students, staff, and families in all grade levels with her main focus on grades preschool through second. Prior to becoming an assistant principal, Rachel taught kindergarten, first grade, and fifth grade and served as an Advanced Academics resource teacher. Rachel is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Special Education at George Mason University. Rachel and her 12 year old son, Aubrey, live in Reston with their two cats, Luke and Vader. She enjoys visiting friends, and family near and far and spending time outdoors. Rachel has been part of Fairfax County Public Schools for 23 years and counting.
