Dear Clearview Families,
We want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and partnership. Family engagement is invaluable, and we appreciate your efforts in making Clearview such a vibrant and positive learning environment. We've been particularly impressed with family engagement these past couple of weeks at the PTA meeting, Family Coffee, the Science Olympiad competition (on Saturday), and first grade literacy night last night.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Dress for the WeatherBrrrr! It’s cold out there! Please note that unless the National Weather Service (NWS) issues an Extreme Cold Weather or Wind Chill Warning Alert or Advisory Clearview, students in FCPS participate in outdoor activities including recess, physical education, and scheduled fire drills. During cold spells, please have children prepared to spend time outdoors (jackets, gloves, and hats). Of course, let us know if your child is in need of any of these items.
If your child requires an accommodation (indoor recess) due to a medical condition, please submit a detailed note from a medical professional.

Information for Caregivers on Eating DisordersIn 2013, Virginia passed a law requiring every school system to provide information annually to parents/caregivers of students in grades 5-12. According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA 2023):
- Eating disorders are serious but treatable mental and physical illnesses that can affect people of all genders, ages, races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations, body shapes, and weights. In the United States, 28.8 million Americans will suffer from an eating disorder at some point in their lives.
- There is no single cause of an eating disorder. Rather, it is a complex combination of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors that converge and set off an individual’s predisposed genetic vulnerability.
In collaboration with the Fairfax County Health Department, FCPS has developed a webpage with detailed information and resources about eating disorders. In addition to the information on the FCPS website, the National Eating Disorders Association has a toll-free, confidential Helpline: 1-800-931-2237.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow.Regular, on-time attendance is a key ingredient to your child’s success. Keeping in mind that students are to stay home if they have a fever (of 100.4 or above), vomiting, or diarrhea, attending school must be a top priority.
- Regular school attendance in elementary school improves the chances that your child will read on grade level.
- Chronic absenteeism (missing 18 or more school days per year) is a primary cause of lower academic achievement even when the absences are "excused" or understandable.
- Students who attend 90% or more of the school year are more likely to graduate from high school on time.
- Absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with peer conflicts or facing some other potentially serious difficulty, and help is available.
Weekly Student Attendance by Grade (%)
Kindergarten 73% First Grade 79% Second Grade 86% Third Grade 86% Fourth Grade 94% Fifth Grade 88% Sixth Grade 91% Whole School 87.4%After-School Clubs

RamadanRamadan begins at sundown on Friday, February 28. This day is an evening-only observance day. There is school during Ramadan, but certain activities that cannot be made up can not take place after school. See the complete school year calendar.
In Islam, Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year. During this month Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to sunset each day while striving to increase their spirituality, through prayers, charity, and good deeds. Muslims believe it was during this month that God revealed the first verses of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad. Ramadan Mubarak to those in our community who observe!Throughout the year, as we celebrate and recognize various cultural holidays and observances, families are encouraged to contact Assistant Principal, Mr. Joshua Redford, regarding accommodations, including but not limited to those around lunch, prayer/meditation and silent reflection spaces and times, and instruction.
